December 2007 - Canada's Top 10 Cleantech winner

Menova Energy has been named one of Canada's Top 10 Cleantech companies for 2008. The Canada's Top 10 awards are organized each year by the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) and are sponsored by the law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG). As a result of this award, Menova Energy has been invited to participate at a series of Investor Forums which will be held in Boston, New York and San Francisco. These events (tentatively scheduled for late January to mid February 2008) are being organized by OCRI, in conjunction with the Canadian consulates in the mentioned cities, and will provide opportunities for active investors to receive detailed presentations during one-on-one meetings with representatives from Menova Energy. If you would like to attend these forums or would like to schedule a meeting, please contact Michelle Scarborough at OCRI or email us directly.

October 2007 - Corporate Knights Cleantech Next 10 Winner

Menova Energy was selected as one of the inaugural Cleantech Next 10 award winners at the Cleantech Venture Conference in Toronto, ON. The Next 10 Emerging Cleantech Leaders of Tomorrow award winners represent the up and coming Canadian companies that, through a combination of internal strengths and external drivers, have the best potential for being the Cleantech leaders of the future.

From the Corporate Knights Special Report :

Menova has developed the Power-Spar® system, a high efficiency solar concentrator that uses a patented system to create heat, electrical power, and lighting for everyday and emergency use. It has been specifically engineered for performance in extreme climates. The company's new generation of triple-junction solar cells can accept intense sunlight with approximately 40% efficiency compared to traditional flatpanel cells' 10 to 20%.
Menova's technology also has applications in the creation of renewable fuels. Algae, which can be turned into ethanol or biodiesel, can be grown in a photo bioreactor. Menova entered into a joint venture in December 2006 with Trident Exploration, a natural gas exploration company whose processes create carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide is being used by Menova as an input in algae production.

"It is a solar concentrator that does both electricity and heat on the same unit - and nobody else does that."
--Randal Goodfellow, Advisory board member

Corporate Knights Inc. is an independent Canadian-based media company focused on prompting and reinforcing sustainable development in Canada. The Cleantech Next 10 winners were selected by an advisory panel of Canada's foremost authorities on Cleantech.
